HRT and Menopause: What the Evidence Actually Says

If you have ever been told to avoid hormone replacement therapy because it causes cancer, you were given information that the FDA itself has now officially described as misleading. In November 2025, after more than two decades of fear-based guidance, the FDA announced the removal of broad black box warnings from HRT products covering cardiovascular disease, breast cancer, and probable dementia. The changes went into effect in February 2026. These were the very warnings that caused HRT prescriptions to plummet by nearly half in 2002 and kept millions of women away from treatment that could have substantially improved their lives.
