They Told You No. Did Anyone Actually Check?

Somewhere in your medical history there is a line that ends conversations. A blood clot in your twenties. Breast cancer, yours or your mother's. Migraines with aura. High blood pressure. A clotting disorder someone mentioned once and never explained. You have learned what happens when you raise hormone therapy. A pause, a glance at the chart, and some version of: with your history, that's not something we can consider. That is where it ends. No investigation. No explanation of which part of your history is the problem, or whether every form of hormone therapy carries the same concern. Just a closed door and a woman sent home to manage a decade of symptoms with nothing. A flat no, delivered without investigation, is not a medical answer. It is the absence of one. No article can tell you whether hormone therapy is right for you. (...)
